Romantic Honeymoon Ideas

Honeymoons are too often seen as secondary to wedding planning, when, as far as memories go, they are just as significant as your day in church. It’s a time that you’ll never forget for the rest of your life, so think carefully about honeymoon locations and honeymoon ideas.

Initially decide what your objectives are for the trip and what you can and can’t live without. Where do you want to go? Do you want to relax or be active? What is most important to you? Beautiful weather, sightseeing, adventure, cost, etc. Talk over honeymoon ideas with your spouse to be, suggest locations to each other, research on the internet and seek opinions from family and friends.

Visits to secluded beach resorts or islands remain the most popular choice, and for good reason. Such trips mean that you can spend quality time with each other whilst unwinding from the busy timetable of the last few months and losing yourselves in stunning surroundings.

Cruises are another option; they offer an equally peaceful, relaxing time whilst also making it possible to visit a host of different locations. If you would have a preference for a more active honeymoon, give consideration to a mountain resort or an adventure travel trip (such as backpacking or a safari).

Regarding honeymoon locations, consider the following: Argentina, Bali, Bermuda, Caribbean, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Madagascar, Mauritius, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand.

Whatever kind of honeymoon and location you decide on, look to book it a minimum of 6 months in advance so that you’ll get the best choice of rooms, and can begin planning for your time away. See if there is a special honeymoon package available to enhance your time away; extras like penthouse rooms, champagne and flowers will make your time away more memorable still.

As soon as your hotel is arranged, starting researching and booking restaurant seats, tickets, tours, and any other activities that require advance reservations, especially should you be going on your honeymoon in the summer months (bear in mind that different locations will have different peak seasons). Don’t go overboard with planning though and make sure there is plenty of free time, especially during the first few days, in which you can just enjoy each others company without any other distractions.

Do what you can to make your honeymoon different to an ordinary vacation. Along with your normal vacation items, consider packing some fun extras, like candles, lingerie and romantic music. Also, don’t forget to take a video camera and pocket camera with you, as it’ll be a time that you’ll want to remember forever.
