Unfortunately the groom wedding speech isn’t a completely free piece of writing – No unfortunately, it requires structure to ensure you don’t forget to mention anyone. It took me a long time to realise, but basically it’s about keeping everyone happy to ensure your wedding day goes perfectly!
Thanking The Right People
One of the first things I incorporated into my grooms speech, was to thank just about anyone who had got me to where I was on that wedding day. That is whether it is the bestman, the maid of honor or your lovely bride. And don’t forget the father of the groom wedding speech!
As a side note, groom speeches are the most formal of all the wedding speeches. It is important that it is not as sentimental as the father of the bride speech, nor as funny as the best man’s speech? This doen’t mean you can’t have a joke or two up your sleeve! Click here to learn more: Grooms Wedding Speech.
Mentioning Your Bride and Family
Even though you may have told the story a million times, I thought i’d start my grooms speech with a story about how I met my beautiful bride. This always goes down well, and is a great for all of those who have made such an effort to be there on your big day.
Next, I will try to add in anecdotes or praise of my family as it is a good opportunity to show the special people in your life what they mean to you. Even if they didn’t directly help me with the wedding, they still played an important part in my life as a whole.
The important points to remember
- Thank the Bride’s father for proposing the toast
- Thank Individuals
- Thank the Bridesmaids
- Thank the groomsmen and the Best Man
- Thank your new bride for marrying you!
- Thank the Guests
Remember, your wedding day is about the love for your bride, but it’s also about having family and friends around you. {It really is about keeping every one of the wedding guests happy. And by finishing with a perfect groom toast to your new bride, it shouln’t be that difficult!Even though I was really nervous about my groom wedding speech, it didn’t take me long to realise that it isn’t too hard to please everybody if you’re careful}!
